The visit included a detailed walk-through of the lost-wax precision casting process, from wax pattern preparation to finished product inspection.
The rope clamp disc – also referred to as a plate twine catcher or Twine gripper disc – serves as a critical component in the knotting system of square and round balers. Its primary function is to reliably hold baling twine during the wrapping and knotting sequence, clamping the twine strands and releasing them at the precise moment to form secure knots that keep finished bales from loosening. The disc works in coordination with the twine holder, whose curved edge cooperates with notches on the disc periphery to trap and clamp twine strands as the disc rotates.
What sets rope clamp discs apart is the manufacturing approach. First begins with wax pattern creation, followed by ceramic shell investment, wax elimination, and finally molten alloy steel pouring to fill the cavity. This method delivers components that meet the rigorous demands of continuous, high-intensity harvesting operations. Our rope clamp discs are manufactured from high-strength alloy steel and undergo professional heat treatment processes such as quenching and carburizing to enhance surface hardness and wear resistance while maintaining core toughness.
The discs are compatible with a wide range of baler makes and models. Aftermarket replacements are available for New Holland balers including the 268, 269, 272, 273, 275, 276, 277, 278, 282, 310, 311, 315, 316, 320, 425, 500, 1283 and 1425 series, as well as Case IH models SB521, SB531, SBX520 and SBX530. John Deere compatibility covers the 224T, 327, 328, 330, 332, 336 series, 337, 338, 342, 346, 347, 348, 456 and 466 series. Additional fitments include Welger AP series balers.
